Next weekend we will have the privilege of hosting the missionary image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. We are particularly honored that our parish visitation happens within the week of the celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12. Moreover, our Diocese will have just begun, on December 7, its celebration of a special Marian year in preparation for the consecration of the Diocese to Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12, 2019, as announced by Bishop Checchio.
The Missionary Image is, in color and in size, an actual replica of the original Miraculous Image of Our Lady which she left on St. Juan Diego's tilma in 1591. The Image was blessed at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico.
The purpose of the Missionary Image is to bring about conversion, healing, and the spread of the pro-life message of the Church. Miraculous healings have been attributed to prayer before the Image.
We expect the Image to arrive on Saturday morning shortly after Mass and remain with us until after the last Mass on Sunday. We will try to get a firmer time of arrival and post it on our website during the week.
