Parish Mission – October 15-17, 2018
Starting at 7:00 PM
A birthday or anniversary is a time for celebration. It is also a time for renewal as we look forward to the years ahead. In preparation for the celebration of the parish’s 75th anniversary on October 27th, we will have a parish mission extending over three evenings - October 15-17th. The mission is designed to be part of the spiritual renewal that should accompany our anniversary celebration. Each evening will begin with exposition and benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament together with Solemn Vespers. Each evening, following vespers, there will be a talk, about one hour in length, to be presented by the Rev. Peter M. Stravinskas.
The topics of Father Stravinskas’ three talks will be: The Bible and the Mass; The Biblical Roots of the Sacrament of Confession; and Being Catholic in a Secular World. There will be an opportunity for private sacramental confession following the talk on Tuesday.
There will be time for questions and answers after each talk, and an opportunity for mingling over light refreshments.
Father Stravinskas is a native of Newark, N.J. Among other degrees, he holds a B.A. in Classical Languages and French and an M.A. in School Administration from Seton Hall University; a Ph.D. in School Administration from Fordham University; an S.T.L. from the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.; and a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Marian Institute of the University of Dayton and the Marianum in Rome. He has taught or served in the administration at a number of universities, including Gonzaga, St. John’s, Seton Hall, and Fordham.
Father Stravinskas founded The Catholic Answer in 1987, and served as its editor until 2004. In 2004, he founded The Catholic Response. He has written or edited fifty-one books and more than 600 articles. He has conducted retreats and lectured in eighty dioceses of the United States and over a dozen abroad. He is the founder and superior of the Priestly Society of Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman, a clerical association committed to Catholic education, liturgical renewal and the new evangelization.
You are cordially invited and encouraged to take advantage of this special opportunity for spiritual growth and renewal.
